Operating systems available for automatic installation on dedicated servers

Servers.com offers a set of operating systems for automatic installation and re-installation on bare metal servers (you will find the list below). Automatic OS installation and re-installation can be ordered during the initial server configuration or later in the customer portal.

Automatic installation

The following operating systems for the x64 architecture are available for automatic installation and re-installation on bare metal servers:

  • CentOS 8-Stream, CentOS 9-Stream (64bit)

  • AlmaLinux 8, 9 (64 bit)

  • Rocky Linux 8, 9 (64 bit)

  • Debian 10, 11, 12 (64 bit)

  • Proxmox 7, 8 (64 bit)

  • FreeBSD 13 (64 bit)

  • Ubuntu server 20.04, 22.04 (64 bit)

  • VMware ESXI 7, 8 (64 bit)

  • Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 (Datacenter / Standard edition) (64 bit)

Installation from a custom image

You can boot a custom OS image and install an operating system of your choice using your Dell server's out-of-band management platform – iDRAC. Please refer to the "How to boot a dedicated server into a custom OS image using iDRAC" article for instructions.
